Faith is an interesting concept because it finds its way into every aspect of your life. To have faith in something, someone, or yourself. To live with faith and to surrender faithfully? What does all of this even mean? Also, why does having faith matter? There are many times in our lives when our faith will waiver. People will break our trust, and our hearts and have us questioning the things and the people we are faithful to. There will be ups and downs because that’s what it is to live the human experience. Maybe this is you right now? Have you lost faith? If so, in what? Or who?

There is no quick remedy to gain your faith back. It is something that you yourself have to rediscover and regain. Perhaps you are experiencing dark night of the soul? Or your heart has been broken? Maybe people, in general, have disappointed you. As you dive deep into your faith, the one thing you will learn is that we mustn’t hold our faith in others. Nor should we look to others to keep our faith alive. This will disappoint you and yes so will the people you have faith in. That doesn’t mean you cannot believe in people. What they are capable of. Just know that this belief cannot define your faith or your faith in life or whether or not you choose to believe in God’s presence.

Faith exists within you. It is not a word that is easily defined or explained. Those who try to debate the existence of the feeling will find this aim futile. So what do you do when you have lost faith? I am not sure what has led you to this point where faith no longer exists within your heart. Where you are not driven by the love of faith and how it truly can change your life. What you can do is wait for it and more importantly work for it. The same way you work towards your wellness once you realize your body is not as healthy as it should be because you haven’t been taking care of yourself. You have to work for faith so it becomes a part of you. You cannot just pick and choose when it serves you. Faith must encompass every part of your life and in all you do.

Faith is you. It is how you feel about yourself. It is the meaning you give to the experiences in your life. It is what moves you to try when no one is looking or believes in you. Faith is forgiveness. Because through our faith our hearts are always filled with love. Faith is not discerning, it is always there to serve you if you remain faithful. We lose our faith when we only call to it when we want it to be of service to us. Remember faith matters when the little things happen in life. It is not just about the big things. Faith is abundant and if we desire it will guide us through life. Through the challenges and also the sweet moments. Faith is always freely loving and giving. But we cannot receive the gifts that faith can offer us if we do not respect its beautiful presence in our life.

So here you are feeling faithless? Feeling aimless and hopeless? Faith has never left you, you have abandoned it. Just because things may not be working out as you imagined or life is throwing you a curve ball. Faith is still there to catch you, redirect you, and help you get back up. You do not have to look very far, it is there within you. You are not lost, you have just forgotten to love the gift of faith. It hasn’t given up on you so don’t give up on faith.
