As I look at the horizon as the sun sets on a warm day in Africa. A rainbow shoots from the sky, perhaps the biggest one I’ve ever seen. I think to myself wow this is magic. I look around and think of the day that I had watching the hippos bathe in the waters and elephants roam the plains and the curious cheetah passing by our car to see who has come here to witness what beauty looks like in its purest form. It makes you wonder are we born in heaven?.

Is the reality we live here an extension of a dimension unknown that some call heaven or the afterlife? Now you may be thinking to yourself my experience isn’t heavenly. The reality is we cannot call earth a hellish place, it is the people who inhabit it, they are hellish. It is the people who do things to ruin something so beautiful and make us believe we must be anywhere but here.

If you are lucky enough to explore the wonders of the world, to travel and see different places, experience the world through the lens of other people and how they see it. You will realize that this Earth, is heavenly. It’s a shame many of us don’t see it. We go about our lives each day, we go through the motions thinking about what to do next. We also think about what is after all of this. The other day as I walked through my neighbourhood. I like to do walking meditations. I couldn’t help but think about how beautiful this place is. The trees vibrated so much love and warmth. The sky beamed the bluest blue. I felt so much beauty and love even in the midst of all the buildings and the homes that were placed here. It was beautiful.

I watched the squirrels play with pure intention and bliss. Presently living for the day. I knew at that moment that they know that this place is heavenly. The simplicity of lying in the sun and looking up at the sky.

So yes, we are essentially born in heaven, I will assert that this is an extension of another magical creation of existence as spiritual beings that we are gifted to experience. Whether we like it or not that’s another story. But what we can do once we recognize the potential of our current reality is change the things that remove us from seeing the beauty that is. The beauty that we can experience while we are experiencing this current state.

Are we born in heaven? Certainly doesn’t feel that way if everything around you is falling apart. Actually, there are those who have been born into what some would call the most ideal of situations to thrive and they still don’t recognize this heaven, their current heaven. So circumstance can determine what you see at times. The relativity indeed matters but on the other hand you being the main equation regardless of circumstance or the hellish people you encounter. You determine what you choose to see. Do you choose to see heaven or hell? Do you choose to live in a constant state where heaven or where hell resides?

You do not have to travel the world to recognize heaven. For some, it’s needed for a deep contemplative perspective. In the Here and Now. All you have to do is step outside, go to nature, perhaps lie in the grass and look up, the way you did when you were a child. A time when life felt boundless and limitless because essentially it is. You are a spiritual being and you are the expanse of the universe. Everything you omit surrounds you and determines what vibrations you will in turn absorb and experience. This is not to be confused with unforeseen circumstances that no one can understand or explain.

The unexplainable will always remain what it is. We are not here to decipher what mustn’t. Everyone has a journey. Your life is a purposeful moment in time. It can either be heavenly or hellish. You decide, are you born in heaven?
