The first thing I would like to say is that sweating is normal. Sweat also cools your body down when it’s overheated. Of course, there are conditions where excessive sweating needs to be addressed. You may have an underlying health condition that is causing this. Aside from this, you need to embrace sweating as a natural detoxification process that the body undergoes. A lot of people have been asking me about natural deodorant lately. As you know I’ve been using natural deodorant for many years and I have featured several brands on this site. Before you start you need to know what is a natural deodorant detox?

In the coming weeks, I will share with you new brands that I think you will love. Before you dive into the aluminum-free, toxin-free, chemical-free deodorant world. You need to know that your body with go through a detox. Your body will need to detox from years of using deodorants that are not natural. You will stink! Some worse than others. For some of you, it might be the first time you’ve smelled your natural scent. I know! But it gets better.

You will not be satisfied with the results of using a pure and natural deodorant on day one. For the first two weeks, no deodorant, unless you have to go out, make sure it’s natural. Obviously, it may take more time for some of you for your body to adjust. You can opt to use a natural deodorant while you are detoxing, but your body will still undergo the process of detoxing. You can use natural deodorant wipes or regular clean beauty wipes to stay fresh throughout the day if needed.

Once you have been using natural deodorant for a few months you will notice that this detoxification process has slowed down or stopped. The excess sweating will go down. I will repeat this again, sweating is natural. Your body needs to sweat. So your goal should be smelling fresh.

Although it may sound gross, this is an excellent time for you to get used to your natural smells. The way you smell is indicative of your diet and your health. This is a perfect time for you to boost your vitamins and minerals intake and improve your gut health. Remember what goes in, comes out. Certain foods make you smell worse than others, a bad diet definitely doesn’t help where body odour is concerned. This is part of the detoxification process.

A few natural deodorant detox tips:

  • Day one, shave your armpits. Hair traps smell and also your deodorant. This is just temporary. You can let it grow care-free after this if you want to.
  • Wash your armpits. Simple, but a body part that is often overlooked when in the shower.
  • Natural deodorant wipes and non-toxic baby wipes are a great way to freshen up while you detox.
  • Don’t be afraid to wash your armpits midday, if you need to. You don’t have to tolerate the smell. Don’t use harsh soaps or cleansers, go for a natural body wash or bar of soap.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothing.
  • Drink water and do an inventory of your diet. What you are eating? Is your diet impacting your overall body odour.
  • Try a few brands. What works for me, or your friends may not work for you. Purchase a few sample size natural deodorants to try. Be patient you will find the right one for you.
  • If you have sensitive skin, avoid natural deodorants with baking soda. If you’re not sure try the sample.
