Why Cannabis Culture Isn’t Going Anywhere

Remember when you were young and your parents would tell you to stay away from the potheads hanging out in the park? The smell of cannabis is a very familiar smell even if you haven’t tried it before. I am definitely not telling you to go out and smoke a ton of pot. You may have noticed this once forbidden plant is now everywhere. It’s in your skincare products, hair care products, chocolate, tea, gummies; pretty much everything! There are so many reasons why cannabis culture isn’t going anywhere but I want to share with you a few of them. In addition to a few industries where you will begin to see more cannabis-infused products. Believe it or not, this spike in cannabis culture isn’t just about the business of getting high it’s about wellness alternatives.

Before I dive in, I understand that some of you may be struggling through addictions. Although no studies have proven a link between addiction and cannabis use. In other words, you can get addicted to it. There have been studies that have shown the negative side effects. Also, I don’t want to negate the fact that addiction is also a behaviour. Sometimes we can replace one addictive behaviour with another one. Please keep this in mind and speak to an addiction specialist who can help you navigate this in an informative way. Some would argue that cannabis helped them with their addiction and others would argue that cannabis use was determinantal to overcoming their addiction to other substances. I feel it’s important for you to empower yourself with knowledge. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek guidance.

Cannabis & Wellness

It isn’t about getting high, it’s about wellness. Whether it’s for stress relief, anxiety, cancer-related symptoms or pain relief there are so many cannabis-infused products that are available. For many, it’s a great alternative to prescription or over the counter drugs. It’s also unlearning what we have learned our whole lives, that natural alternatives can’t be apart of our wellness and health journey. One of the things I discovered is that not all cannabis products are one and the same. Although derived from the same plant different properties are extracted. For example, CBD (cannabidiol) which is derived from the Cannabis plant doesn’t contain any THC which is what gives you the psychoactive side effects; the stuff that makes you high.

Cannabis & The Beauty Industry

For the longest time, I have always believed that there is a place for Cannabis in the beauty industry due to its anti-inflammatory properties. People have been making salves and ointments with these plants for centuries. It’s good to see this step in, what I feel, is the right direction. We can learn a lot from nature. I think the better we understand how nature can be of service to us we will understand why it’s important to take care of the environment; beautiful abundant planet earth. In addition, why it’s important to consume mindfully as well as pay attention to what we put on and in our bodies.

Cannabis isn’t the only plant used in beauty. We are seeing a surge in the natural beauty industry for a reason. We can’t deny that what’s closer to the earth when used correctly and respectfully is beneficial to us.
