I wasn’t going to write about anything Real Housewives, but I just couldn’t help myself after watching the Real Housewives of New York premiere of the new cast. Hello, Cheese-Gate! Who knew that cheese could cause so much conflict?! Apparently, lactose intolerance is not just a feeling but a state of mind. I am hoping there will be some steak gate to give it some meat because we surely cannot do a whole dairy-filled season. The thing about women is that they will fight about anything. If it’s not cheese, it’s prosciutto. Well, fast forward to the second episode: caviar, bring your own toilet, and poor gift etiquette have brought the drama.

In a way, we must give some credit to Sex and the City, which I feel this franchise is somewhat based on. Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha in real-time. Same girl, many cities. Nonetheless, I am intrigued to know more about these dynamic women. Although she is a housewife in Dubai, I must first pay my respects to Chanel Ayan, who made us all believe in ourselves again…period dot. Ubah, another East African beauty, is surely to be a delight to viewers, but don’t be fooled. I feel her personality is as fiery as that hot sauce she brewed up in her kitchen. Buy some Ubah Hot and serve it with your next cheese platter…or caviar.

“We’re in New York there’s a lot of rats here” – Ubah

This statement speaks for itself if you have seen a New York rat.

Jenna Lyons, every fashion girl is happy to see your story. I must admit, J. Crew is missing the Lyon touch and zest as of late. I can’t lie, I am bored. This is off-topic, but what happened to Club Monaco? Two different brands, but I will say that there was a time when both of these brands used to be the giver that keeps on giving. The 12 days of Christmas all year long. The hell no, I won’t wait for a sale, they definitely will not have my size left. You would be sure to stop by both stores at the mall. These brands offered mid-range affordable luxury. A streamlined ripple down from the runway for anyone to grab a hold of. Lately, neither are giving or receiving. If you know, you know what I am talking about. Your J. Crew shopping bag was always sitting next to your Club Monaco shopping bag. Jenna, we are here for your fabulous wardrobe and your next fashion assignment. Khaki it is. We would never dare to rifle through your closet or spoil the Valentino. Also, all gifts are happily appreciated and accepted.

” Who in their right mind wants to drop the conversation and talk about cheese” – Jenna Lyons

Girl, they do!

Honestly, I had to go to the fridge and get a piece of cheese while watching this. Not just any kind though, organic grass-fed cheese. Sai approved! I have been following Sai on social media for the last year. Via social media, we have been able to watch her life through her lens so it will be interesting to see more of Sai through the Housewives lens. Also known as the edits. Sai is the friend you want to have forever who reminds you why she is such a great friend and there is no one like her! I am sure she will not disappoint, she never does. We love a woman who is unapologetically herself. Cue Chanel Ayan, “Let them burn honey”. I will forewarn you, she is sarcastic. I am too, so I understand her. So you will need to get to know her to love her.

I am going to say this now because I am sure many viewers will be saying this by the end of the season. Should Pavit be the main character? Pavit? Get us some wine, please! Real husbands should be a thing by now because some of these husbands give us more drama than their wives. Joe Gorga just entered the chat! Pavit is married to Jessel, a brand consultant and fashion publicist. We know Pavit and Jessel were best friends before they fell in love and got married. And she fixed him and made him the man he is today. This is what she said, her words, not mine! She has two lovely twin boys. So cute. Jessel will also tell you if your gift isn’t giving. Her advice: check her Instagram if you are unsure about what she likes. Got it! Episode three preview shows the girls coming for her uncouth gift etiquette.

Brynn so far appears to be in line with the modern woman that so many girls nowadays will relate to…TBD. She is giving us some bone collector Sheree Whitfield vibes (I know the same last name! Sheree, is that you? Did you escape Atlanta!) mixed in with a little Ramona “did I do that?” kind of vibes? Messy, but we like it! Let there be drama…and cheese! Also, since this site is called The Things I Wish I Knew and it’s all about life lessons. What everyone has learned from the first episode is, to tell the truth. And if you are going to lie, don’t post your truth on social media. Everyone knows that person who can’t tell you they don’t want to be somewhere, say they are staying home, but then you find out they went out after all. In 2023, let’s be honest, more like Sai.

Erin seems cool. It is too early to make an assessment, but to be honest, this is “reality” TV, so viewers need to keep this in mind. Her house is absolutely beautiful, which makes sense because she is the founder of Homegirl, a home renovation and interior design firm. I think Erin broke the cheese gate… hello caviar. Caviar, I don’t mind it. But I was hungry, thinking about everyone complaining about being hungry. I fast until 1 pm, so I am imagining myself on a long car ride to the Hamptons. I would be hungry, I would need at least a smoothie or something. This is why I always travel with protein snacks. Bison Jerky, some sort of jerky. Alas, we are adults and I suppose we should always come prepared. She put a lot of effort into organizing a decadent caviar spread.

Now, I must end this with gift etiquette. This is a life lesson courtesy of episode two, everyone must learn and get it right! When someone buys you a gift, whether you like it or not, say thank you and keep it moving. I have gotten many gifts I do not like, MANY. I say thank you and stow it away at the back of my closet. I have even worn said gift I didn’t like because I knew it would make the person who gave me the gift feel great. Honestly, gratitude is a gift we give to others by showing them that we appreciate their efforts.

Wow, that was exhausting. Talking about housewives is a mental marathon. Anyway, wishing all of these women success and all the wonderful things that this opportunity can offer, use it wisely. Pavit, I am still waiting for that glass of wine!

FYI: Oh, you must watch Sonja and Luann living the small-town life. Nothing gets more real than these two, wherever they go they bring their authentic, fun-loving selves. This is what we love about them.
