Because You Have To

I am sure you can remember when you were young and you would ask your parents why you had to do something they asked you to do. Their answer, ‘Because you have to”. I am sure this pissed you off at times. Whether you liked it or not, the reasons why didn’t matter. Oddly enough they were preparing you for adult life where certain things are a must, the reasons are far too complex to break apart. You just do certain things because something in you tells you that you have to. Also, the feeling of doing nothing feels far worse than getting up to try and keep on going no matter what.

Try

Some people say that the actual act of trying is harder than anything else. I would say trying isn’t just an option it’s necessary. Because if you never try.. I know what you’re going to say oh, I’ve heard this before, you will never know. Some of you may think I would rather not know and I am fine with my current reality, it’s safe here. The truth is it’s not that you will discover what you would have never known. It’s that you will learn things that even your mind couldn’t have imagined.  There’s a reason why people say it’s exceeded my expectations. This is something that I couldn’t have even imagined happening in my life; it’s bigger. The notion that if you never try you’ll never know. It’s not about never knowing it’s about the way you feel about yourself. When you put in the effort and try to achieve something whether grand or small, this transforms you.

Sometimes when you try to achieve something you may hear a lot of no’s. It makes you question what’s the point. You try so hard and it just seems like nobody understands you or is willing to give you a chance. You know what’s interesting before anyone can give you a chance you have to give yourself a chance. I think this is the one thing no one tells you when you go out there and you pursue your dreams, your purpose. We seem to think our lives are in someone else’s hands. That this someone is the only person who can transform us. You need to know that the only way you will transform is if you take action and allow life to show you through life lessons what you were made of. So this is why you have to try because you need to know what you were made of and when you know what you are made of you can use this to your advantage.

I want you to think bigger than the idea that you will never know unless you try. I’m sure you have seen people who have accomplished those things that they set out to do and yet they remain sad or unhappy upon arrival to the desired destination point. When we try to accomplish something, to build something we are also building ourselves. We are building grit, we are building courage and we are building self-worth. Some people miss out on this on their pursuit.

They don’t realize that not only are they building their dreams they’re building themselves. As a spiritual being navigating through this life. There is more to one’s existence than simply achievements or in other words material gain or the praise of others. What matters is who are you? Who have you become while you are on the journey and when you arrive to different destination points. It’s in these moments when we see the dark against the light, fear married to pain and love coupled with anger. We learn our true nature and this shapes our future self, who we become.

I want you to know because you have to know this. Of course, you don’t have to listen to me. Who am I to you after all? Then again there’s no harm in having an open mind or giving this some thought just for a minute, take what applies to you. I want you to try to reach whatever it is you have in your heart not because it’ll make you rich or famous or whatever it is you think it’ll make you. I want you to try because I want you to unlock the power within. This will help you get through challenges in life. This will help you to be of service to other people and this will keep you whole in the times when loneliness, fear, pain, anger, envy, greed, and hate welcome you.

Keep on going

Because you have to keep on going, in the wildest storm. I know you’re saying to yourself, “I don’t want to, I don’t have it in me.” Yes, you do. You know that you do. You are scared to see that side of yourself. Greatness it’s a scary thing.

It’s the reason why we second-guess ourselves or sabotage ourselves. We place obstacles in front of ourselves and use them as excuses. Excuses are comfortable and everyone understands them because we all use them to justify why we gave up.

And still, you have today another day for you to keep on going and to find opportunities that are in place only for you. Opportunities that you will not see if you have a mind that is full of defeat. Our mind has to be nurtured. We must nurture the parts of us that live in fear. We must tell those parts of us that they do not control us. In fact, they impede us from going where we are meant to go. If you keep on going, you will find that you’ll never want to look back. Those who fail to understand the idea that you have to keep on going because you have to in order to truly understand your purpose in this life will feel great misery. This is something I’m sure you do not desire. So keep on going.

Celebrate

Because you have to celebrate. Even if there is no reason why I encourage you to rejoice. Even if everyone is watching you I want you to scream and jump with pure elation. You are still here, you are still standing, and this is the greatest celebration of all.

Now I don’t want you to only celebrate when it’s a birthday or when you’ve won something or when you’ve had one too many sips of wine. I want you to celebrate when you wake up in the morning. I implore you to celebrate when you go to sleep at night. The universe wants you to celebrate each breath you take. For if we do not understand that celebration is a continuous energy flow that happens all the time even when darkness has entered our lives. We will not value our journey here on earth. We will continue to ask the reasons why. Why am I here? What is this all for? I will tell you you will not find the answers. Not while you are living this human existence you won’t. This is something that is so indescribable that seeking to do so will drive you into madness and lonely sadness.

You cannot experience joy if you are not present. When we live in the present moment we continuously celebrate. We celebrate microseconds. Your body is continuously celebrating this life. The problem is we have allowed ourselves to be disconnected from our mind our body our soul.

You mustn’t search so hard for the answers you seek will be revealed to you. It is in these times of simple celebration that we hear what it is that we have been longing to know. Try to celebrate during moments when perhaps you are feeling low or lost and confused. Find ways to celebrate the mundane and simple. Your life is a series of simple and grand moments. The truth is the simple moments are abundant. Imagine looking back on your life and realizing that you barely celebrated because you are always waiting for these grand firework moments. Oh, there’s so much beauty in simplicity. Here we find truth and here we learn how to persevere no matter what is happening in our lives and in the world. Celebrate your ability to get another chance. Celebrate your gift to love someone the way you desire to be loved. Celebrate the person you desire to be and who you will one day become if you allow yourself to always try to keep on going and to always with a pure heart, celebrate.

Don’t give yourself reasons as to why you need to try, why you need to keep on going you and why you need to celebrate; just do it. There are some things in life we must do. But those are the things that transform us. Those are the things that create those changing moments where doors are opened, where compassion lives and love happens.
