Things I love about: Dries Van Noten Spring 2015

If you were paying attention to what trends to expect for spring 2015. You will notice the 1970s are back…no wait. The 70s haven’t really left as far as fashion is concerned. I think most of you can agree there is something timeless about this much loved era of peace love and happiness. One of those notable things is the fashion.

Each year we pay homage to the free wheeling vibe that the 1970s has to offer in the fashion world. It’s not just about being cool it’s also about being kind…ALWAYS. This is the only motto to live by. I hope you are fashion savvy and kept your 70s inspired clothing that you have collected over the years. Since, high waisted wide legged jeans are hear to stay. Along side loose fitting and flowing blouses and dresses.

If you still aren’t sure how to put this look together. I am here to help you along with Dries Van Noten. The inspiration behind this collection is John Everett Millais ‘Ophelia’.

What’s Ophelia about?

Ophelia is a painting by John Everett Millais

Ophelia is a character in William Shakespears’s Hamlet.

If you look at this painting you will notice the floral pattern; something that really stands out in this collection.

This painting captures Ophelia floating while singing in the river before she drowns.

Another whimsical Shakespearean element captured is from the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Floral elements juxtaposed with gorgeous layers of chiffon enhance the dream-like psychedelic fantasy of the 70s.

Just when I thought I had too much lace, silk dresses, kimonos and kaftans in my closet I am reminded that you can never have enough of the good stuff. Here are a few of my favorite looks from their spring collection:
