Breaking Rules, Wearing White After Labor Day

Yes, we are breaking that rule once and for all. I am sure you agree that it’s silly. I think we have the right to choose what we wear. So we are wearing white after labour day and all year long! You may be wondering where this rule came from? Why can’t you wear white after labour day? Well, believe it or not, this rule has historical roots. Well, no one wants to live in the past and the various reasons for not wearing white after labour day no longer hold up. We simply don’t care. I love wearing white during colder months as well and I have a few items that I have purchased recently that I plan to wear in the fall and winter. Fashion designers have caught up with the idea that this rule needs to be broken and have designed beautiful white coats, knit sweaters, trousers, dresses, and accessories.

The only thing you have to keep in mind when buying any clothing item that’s meant for summer is that it’s a transition piece. Some pieces just don’t look great with a heavy sweater or coat. It’s important to consider the fabric and style of the piece.

Here are a few pieces that transition well from season to season:

As you can see all of the items featured above are simple and elegant. You can dress them up or dress them down. You can use them as a reference point when looking for white pieces or you can shop them! Whenever I buy neutrals I buy items that are versatile and well-made. You will notice that white clothing made with low-quality fabrics tend to turn yellowish or look gray. One rule you should follow when buying your all-seasons white clothing is quality!.
