Every girl loves a good bag. We put our life’s possessions in them, it’s an adult security blanket that’s socially acceptable and well, most of us can’t live without one. Particularly if you want to be ready for whatever life throws at you. Thank goodness for mini flat irons…well mini everything and roll-on perfume. A girl needs what she needs and no one is getting in the way of this security accessory that protects us from many impromptu situations.
I was thinking, as I was combing through my closet, if I were to downsized hypothetically of course, what would I get rid of and what do I want/need. Clearly, a handbag is not a need on a deeper level. Yes, we know it’s surface level and superficial and back in the day baskets and cloth satchels were where we stored our essentials. Thank goodness times of changed because ugh, don’t we love ourselves a good handbag!
If you were looking for a bag for life, that is, no more shopping, this is it. What would you get? Although we want a lot of this and a lot of that, sometimes just one of a few different styles is more than enough. This is my you’re good, no need to go bag shopping again list. Of course, you can just use it as a guide and find a brand that may have similar styles and suit your tastes. Below are brands I like and bags I would be more than happy with for life without thinking of buying another bag again.
THE BOSS BAG – The Tote
Every girl needs a bag larger than life! It’s the bag you put everything in and use day in and day out. There are so many treasures at the bottom on a tote bag…finally you found that lipstick you bought two weeks ago. We’re always searching through our large totes but we will never give them up. Bottega Veneta makes gorge bags. This is has been one of my favourite brands for many moons, their attention to detail, design work and quality stand out. Definitely an investment bag but it lasts a long time.
BON VOYAGE – Light Travel Bag aka Overnight Bag
TUMI makes amazing durable travel bags that work for the traveller in you. Not only are their bags well-made they are sleek and stylish. Guess what?! Tumi promises that “when you purchase a TUMI, you also purchase a promise that if something goes wrong, we’ll fix it. If it breaks, we’ll repair it. If it’s lost, we’ll help you track it down.” So I guess it’s safe to say that this is the every girl’s best friend where travel bags are concerned.
A signature goldtone logo Saint Laurent clutch is a timepiece. Years could go by and you would still love it. I imagine myself as an old granny still gripping this clutch tightly. It comes in different textures and colour as well. You can always change things up colour wise when looking for a clutch. Red or neutral tones are great choices. For those looking for versatility and longevity, I think the above choice is great for you.
THE EVERDAY – Crossbody Bag
This is the bag you use on lighter days. It’s the bag you use when you need something stylish and light. It’s the bag you use when it’s time to leave the boss bag at home, you can’t carry around your worldly possessions all the time! Thank goodness for miniature products!! Great for the weekend and the evening. It’s your go-to bag that you can dress up or dress down; it always works. I picked Chloe, I have always loved this bag, it’s on my must-have list. It’s a classic crossbody bag that looks great on everyone. It comes in other colours, for now, I decided to showcase black. The goal here is to downsize, so black is always a good choice. The Chloe Marcie is handmade and it takes a skilled artisan 17 hours to assemble. It’s a classic 70s styled bag that’s synonymous with the Chloe brand.
The Chanel flap bag is one of the most coveted bags. Whether it’s new or vintage lady’s who have a love for bags have it on their list. It debuted in 1955 by style icon Coco Chanel as a departure from handheld bags. She thought it was time for something you could wear on your shoulders; she clearly understood the handheld bag struggle and aren’t we glad she did! Karl Lagerfeld, we love him, added his own touch to it by adding the CC clasp. Two great style minds creating an iconic bag that will never go out of style. Guess what? In case you didn’t know, these bags go up in price…yes, that’s right it’s an investment piece, that will sell for even more as times goes on. I doubt you would want to sell it, but if you do you will get your money’s worth. The price of this bag will vary depending on the size (above is the largest one – hence the price) or where you purchase it. When buying vintage look for a reputable vintage store along with authentication.
