Natural Haircare Post-Workout Treatments

There are really no days off when it comes to taking care of your hair. Whether you’ve opted for a protective style or you have decided to let your curls wildly flow. Black girls know that keeping a good hair routine is integral to the overall health of your hair. Who doesn’t love a good workout? Or a good sweat? I sure do. The products I use on my hair are very important because it’s important to keep my hair hydrated and free of build-up. As you know, washing your hair every day isn’t an option, this just isn’t how our hair, natural hair, black hair, thrives. Overwashing will strip your hair of naturals oils that your mane needs to thrive. Here are a few natural haircare post-workout treatments and products for you to use.

FYI, all the brands I feature here are suitable for all hair types, meaning that you can use them on natural hair (black hair, curly textured hair) or other hair types (you don’t identify as a woman of colour). It’s all a matter of understanding your hair type and what your hair needs. I prefer to feature green beauty and clean brands for the most part.

A few tips:

  • Co-washing is your friend (conditioner washing). You can buy one or make your own. Dilute your favourite conditioner with spring/filtered water. You can use a spray bottle for this.
  • Apply a leave-in conditioner after you rinse your hair with co-wash or for some people a good rinse with cool water is all that’s needed at the start of the week.
  • If you decide to wrap your hair during a workout, use a silk scarf.
  • Deep condition on shampoo day – once a week.

This stuff is amazing. It’s pricy but a little bit goes a long way. It’s a lightweight moisturizer. Great scalp treatment. I use it twice a week on my scalp and hair at bedtime. I have featured Rahua on the site before. I love these products.

You can use this as a treatment mid-week, sleep with it overnight then rinse in the morning.

Use this after you’ve co-washed your hair. You can also use it after a good deep clean shampoo and condition or mid-week for a refresh.

This is great for wash days to remove build-up and sooth your scalp.

This stuff is honestly the best. It will forever be one of my go-to products. Great for a deep conditioning hair treatment. You can use it as a pre-shampoo treatment or after you wash your hair.
