The Lowdown On Why Natural Beauty ROCKS!

Who isn’t striving for the greatest health and wellness, it’s our most valuable asset. If you really want to glow from the INSIDE then you need to be mindful of what you’re putting on the OUTSIDE too. What I love most about Natural Beauty is it isn’t just about it, when you make the switch you’ll be supporting eco-friendly, sustainable, healthy companies too. My top reasons to make the switch to natural beauty PLUS how to get started are:

1. Animal Cruelty

Shockingly, there are still many large cosmetic companies that partake in the inhumane practice of animal testing. Would you still happily lather on your moisturizer or pout with your lipstick if you knew it was causing injury and harm to fluffy bunny rabbits?

“ANIMALS ARE NOT OURS TO EXPERIMENT ON”

2. Environment

By choosing natural products we’re reducing harmful residue disposal into our waterway and landfill. It also means less demand for the production of toxic chemicals which in turn means less circulation of toxins in our ecosystem, leading to cleaner air and water and healthier happier bodies.

3. Health + Glow

Natural beauty and skincare don’t just help the environment and prevent animal cruelty, but it truly helps you glow. Full of incredible vitamins, minerals and nutrients, natural beauty really does feed your skin.

So you’re totally convinced that Natural Beauty is the way foreword, but where the hell do you get started?

When I made the natural switch, I went through all my daily essential products and chucked them all out. Pretty dramatic I know, but I couldn’t bring myself to use any of them once I’d read what they contained.  I look back on that now and find it pretty wasteful and expensive, but you don’t need to do it all at once and take out a second mortgage to start using Natural Beauty, so here are my top tips to slowly transitioning to natural beauty:

Start With The Essentials

Start swapping out the essentials first. Things like body wash /moisturizerr, face oils /moisturizers and makeup. Body wash and moisturizer are applied to the whole of your body and skin, therefore giving a larger toxic load whilst skincare oils/moisturizers and makeup are applied and left on the skin all day and night, so these are best to buy natural first up too (plus once you realize what’s in your mainstream mascara and lipstick you’ll never go back). My other most important swap is deodorant – please please please throw out your conventional one and grab yourself a natural one right away.

Once It’s Finished, Replace With A Natural Version

Once you finish with one of your not so natural products, simply purchase a more natural, eco and even organic version.

Get Creative

You don’t need to go out and buy everything. Get creative and make your own natural beauty products by using the contents of your fridge and pantry. Think coconut oil for body moisturizer, coffee and olive oil for a body scrub, honey for a face mask and even avocado for a hair mask. Nature has given us incredible plants to support our health and wellbeing from the inside out.

Know Your Nasties

Start flipping over that pretty little product and familiarize yourself with all those big words you can’t pronounce, ie. TOXINS! To help make this process a little clearer, you can visit my website for product reviews, do your own nifty research online or simply download a handy app. Think Dirty and Chemical Maze are my two favourites apps which will help you distinguish to good ingredients from the downright ugly.

Wouldn’t Eat It? Then Don’t Put It On Your Skin

When we apply nasty chemicals to our skin it’s actually more harmful than swallowing them. Yup, Toxins being absorbed directly through the skin are going straight into the bloodstream and skipping the all important digestion process which aids in filtering out some of the nasties. So, if you wouldn’t eat it, don’t even think about applying it to your beautiful skin.

Australian born and bred and founder of Wild Spirit Naturally, I am passionate about all things natural beauty, especially certified organic plant and flower based products. Through education, I aim to empower women to confidently and comfortably make the transition to Eco-beauty by embracing all natural, organic, ethical and cruelty-free products and practices, ensuring we live the healthiest, happiest life possible with glowing, radiant skin. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 2009. After gaining weight, dealing with depression, exhaustion, inflamed skin conditions, numerous medical visits and months of using antibiotics and mainstream medicine, I decided enough was enough and I had to change my destructive ways (alcohol, junk food, late nights etc). As a 17-year-old I was given an ultimatum - fix yourself or continue to live a 'half' life. I went to my first naturopath who placed me on a full-body cleanse, using food as my medicine it was then that I really learned how foods can affect the way my body looked and felt. I started eating whole foods, sleeping well, caring for my outer skin organically and began to feel more grounded than I ever had before. I felt a new connection and love for life and myself! With over 9 years of experience in Holistic Beauty, I've travelled the world working at 5 and 6-star Spas, Resorts and Retreats. I find myself lucky to have worked alongside experienced Physiotherapists, Naturopaths, Health Coaches and Holistic Therapists, which have all guided and shaped me and the Treatments I perform today. I have seen first-hand how dramatically non- toxic beauty, organic food and self-love can change a life and I now get to share my experience and knowledge with you and the world! I hope that above all Wild Spirit Naturally brings you awareness, education and support, so you can become the best wild, spirited and natural version of yourself. Wishing you a beautiful day.
