When you’re thinking about what gifts to get your niece or nephew or perhaps your friend’s children, particularly if you don’t have kids yet, it can be a bit of a challenge. I am sure you have experienced the rude comment “well you don’t have kids yet” or the slight bit of attitude when you give insight into anything concerning children if you don’t have any. This is ridiculous since it takes a village to raise a child and that child will one day interact with other people. Perhaps you are considering sustainable toys or new learning games. All great ideas but not always received well from parents by non-parents. So here is a holiday gift guide: best selling children’s books. All the books listed are parent-approved!

In most cases, books aren’t offensive and should be received well from one non-parent to a parent. What happened to it’s the thought that counts? I do want to mention that not every insight provided by a non-parent is mommy shaming. Life isn’t always a “you don’t understand” sentiment. You learn very quickly in adulthood that this mindset doesn’t work in your favour. I understand feeling judged but on the other hand, I don’t understand the rude behaviour of people who want people to love and accept their children. Since it’s the spirit of giving I will save my views on this for another time. To all the non-parents out there, don’t fret, it’s not you, it has nothing to do with you. In the meantime, maybe a few of these books will be a win for you this holiday season!

If you’re unsure if it’s age appropriate, the age requirements are listed in the description of each book for most retailers.
