Why You Should Go On A Weekend Escape Alone To Recharge

I think when most of us think of vacation, we think about traveling somewhere abroad or taking two weeks off work after months and months of working away. Going away to get some much needed time to recharge becomes this big event we plan for. You don’t have to wait months to get away and relax. If you do some research you will discover quite a few great places maybe just a few hours away to drive to where you can recharge and relax, even if it’s only for one night.

Lately, I have been exploring Canada. There are so many beautiful places to discover in your own backyard. I have lived here all my life and I realized last year that I need to take the initiative to visit little towns in Ontario. Sometimes, you overlook the beauty that’s been there all along. So far, I am loving every minute of my Canadian travel adventures and I can’t wait to see more of Ontario and Canada!

This past weekend I went to The Blue Mountains for the first time! I know, a little late on this one since most of my friends growing up would go there every weekend during the winter months to ski or snowboard. When you work for yourself you often forget to take some time out to relax. It’s easy to work day and night for weeks without taking a break or even a day or two off. To be honest, it’s quite hard. There’s no one there to remind you to take your two weeks vacation. Sometimes, you feel that any time off is a bad idea because self-employment is a continuous hustle. Alas, it’s important to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Most entrepreneurs experience burn out and sometimes it’s hard to get out of it. In order to keep your sanity and the love in your business, I think you should pick a day of the week where it’s all about you recharging or doing something that you love, something that has nothing to do with work. Even just one night away will do wonders. Luckily The Blue Mountains, a town located in Grey County, southwestern Ontario Canada is only an hour and forty minutes away from Toronto! Even a day trip is more than enough.

As you know, how you get to the destination is very important as well. There’s nothing worse than an uncomfortable car or plane ride. This weekend I took advantage of the safety and comfort of the 2017 Ford Escape Titanium to get me to Blue Mountain for a 60-minute massage at the Scandinave Spa and a quiet evening of rest at The Blue Mountains Mosaic Suites located in Blue Mountain Village.

You might remember the Ford Escape was a big part of my travel experience when I traveled to Prince Edward County.

What I Love About The 2017 Ford Escape Titanium:

  • I think this is a given when you travel anywhere via car: Voice-activated Navigation. Driving to The Blue Mountains is a straight-forward drive but if you make a wrong turn or get off at the wrong exit, this Navigation system gets you back on track quickly.
  • The Lane Keeping System which alerts you when you aren’t in proper lane position is great as well.
  • You will also love the stop-and-go technology which senses the vehicle ahead and automatically accelerates and brakes at a safe distance.
  • It’s cold now, so heated seats are essential.
  • A killer Sony Audio System.
  • Ford Pass: you can connect your smartphone to your car. An option that lets you start your car remotely, lock/unlock your car, locate an available parking spot and check your gas level.
  • I am sure you have done this, clenched the steering wheel while driving on a road trip. Over time this is terrible for your body. The Ford Escape’s adaptive steering helps to reduce steering strain by adding and subtracting the number of wheel rotations needed by the driver.

Scandinave Spa152 Grey Road 21, Blue Mountain Ontario.

If you want to experience an award-winning spa experience in Canada or while visiting make sure you book a 60-minute massage at the Scandinave Spa located in The Blue Mountains, Mont Tremblant, Vieux-Montreal, and Whistler. A relaxing 60-minute massage followed by some time in the infrared sauna is just what I need to kick start my busy week. While at the Scandinave spa you may want to try Hydrotherapy a Finnish therapy that combines cycling through hot and cold temperatures to relax your body, detox, improve circulation and increase your overall energy levels. What you will like about this form of therapy is that you can go at your own pace.

I can’t forget to mention the delicious pumpkin loaf and detox tea I got to enjoy in the lounge after my session. I definitely plan to make a trip back here soon. It’s a great destination for couples or friends as well. Not all weekend getaways need to be wild and crazy. It’s nice to spend time with those you love and at the same time give your body the TLC it needs.

Driving Wellness Tips:

Remember to breathe. This is will help ease tension.

Use cruise control once you discover your pace. This is particularly important during heavy traffic. Always keeps a safe distance from other drivers on the road. The stop-and-go technology comes in handy during times like this.

Make sure you stretch when you arrive or at a stopover point.

Put on a good playlist. Nothing like some good music to enhance your trip.
