The Things We Love: Marc Jacobs Ready-To-Wear Spring 2017

It’s almost spring y’all. The winter went by fast this year, can’t say we are mad about it. Now we can complain about the rain right?! Well, whether is raining or a beautiful sunny day we always need an excuse to play dress-up. Rather than getting all caught up with the trends, I know I know, so many trend reports and you are feeling stressed. How can anyone keep up? Here’s the thing, there are no set rules when it comes to fashion so do as you please, hopefully tastefully. What is in style is what looks good on you. If it’s classic looks from seasons past and it works for you, keep making it work and add similar items that compliment or enhance this look. If it’s new season looks that add that something that has been missing in your style profile then, go for it. It can be a combination of both or somewhere in the middle. A true fashion stylist knows and will tell you it’s about knowing how to put pieces together. You don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe every season, every year. That’s unless you want to, if so darling, go ahead!

I am currently loving Marc Jacob’s Ready-To-Wear Spring 2017. As you know we love ourselves some Carrie Bradshaw and I feel like this collection is a glimpse into her closet. It pays homage to the late 80’s and 90s rave-centric freewheeling everything goes style. I think we have replaced raves with festivals? I dunno. I don’t go out much these days. All work and work. But I suppose I don’t need to go to the party to feel like I am there with this collection. Marc, you had me at technicolored-patterned holographic sequin. In my world, you can never have enough sequin or animal print or camouflage or anything fabulous. This collection does all of this with a who gives a __ attitude. Life’s a party, so let’s celebrate.

The bright coloured hoodies in this collection feature embroidered illustrations by Julie Verhoeven. You will also see her illustrations magically displayed on the metallic snakeskin coat.

Here are a few looks from this collection:

Cargo shorts are a must have in my opinion. I love the patchwork on these. You can dress them up or dress them down due to the cut and how they fall on the body.

Yes, honey. This skirt is a must. If you want it don’t even hesitate.  This retro silhouette skirt is a timeless piece. Wear it with a blouse, a tank, a t-shirt then layers like a cardigan, a leather or denim jacket. Throw on some heels, ankle boots, runners…you get the point. It just works!

The whole look, it’s amazing. The oversized sweatshirt, the collared shirt and crinkle taffeta skirt it works. Fashion is about exploring limits. Start loving colour again. I encourage you to push your fashion limits.  How can anyone dislike a sweatshirt with sequin?!

As you know, you can never have enough animal print. It’s the ultimate accent fabric. Take a 5 outfit to a 10 by adding a piece like this one to your look. Sometimes you need a piece that just says it all. This coat is the leading actress.

Love these Crosta calf hair animal print boots. A great statement piece. As you can see they come in two different prints in addition to a similar all black style with star cutouts.

Of course, I have to include these boots. They remind me of a pair of white retro-style boots I purchased years ago. I still have them and love them. I definitely would add these to my boot collection. They add that extra something that’s missing.

If you are shopping in Canada, keep in mind that most online stores feature US prices, as a result prices are subject to the currency exchange or at the retailers’ discretion. If you purchase from international retailers, prices may increase due to import duties included in the price.
