Holiday Cocktails T’is the Season Cheers

Doesn’t the holiday season bring out the mixologist in you? All of a sudden you find yourself thinking of the perfect cocktail that warms you up a bit and will compliment a warm slice of pumpkin spiced cake. I am pretty sure I am not the only one adding a few drops of whiskey in my coffee or warm a bevie,

Have you ever had a warmed up glass of port after a huge dinner? It’s actually quite good! You have to try it. If you are looking for some great drink recipes. We have a great cocktail by one of The Carbon Bar’s mixologists. This cocktail, The Carbon Bar’s Cafe Carbano is a nice mix of cold brew coffee and rye whiskey complimented with a touch of ginger which adds a nice kick.

The Carbon Bar’s Cafe Carbono

1 oz. Lot 40 Canadian Rye Whiskey
1 oz. Kings Ginger Liqueur
2 oz. Station Cold Brew Concentrate
1/2 oz. simple syrup
Garnish with candied ginger to help with digestion

Combine ingredients in tall container with ice. Stir until combined. In a glass, place one large ice cube at the bottom and top with candied ginger. Strain ingredients into glass and serve!

So this does require you to remember to have your ice cubes ready to go. Pick up a few ice cube trays that are meant for fancy cocktails. There are so many available right now that create cool shapes and will make you look like a star mixologists (although you’re just faking it).

Another tip: look for a tray that makes large ice cubes, not only will they melt slowly but will also aide in keeping your drink stronger longer. No one wants a watery beverage.

This jumbo ice cube tray is also a great gift for him (My Boyfriend’s) as well.

Let me know if you if try to make this drink. You can also make your way to The Carbon Bar Toronto and try it there as well.

FUN FACT: A cocktail is a beverage that contains a specific formula of sugar, bitters and spirit whereas a mixed drink is any drink (even non-alchoholic) that contains one or more ingredients.
