Back To School Everyday Beauty Essentials

I remember when I was a student I used to keep a makeup bag in my backpack that was filled with beauty essentials to get me through the day. Whether it was going from class to the gym, I was always prepared. With everything that’s going on when you have a busy school schedule, you don’t have as much time to fuss over beauty. That doesn’t mean you should neglect your beauty routine either, being a student doesn’t mean you have to look rough. Feeling great helps you get through the day and as you know student life can be quite stressful. I thought I would put together a few beauty essentials for you to consider when you are looking for beauty must-haves during the school year.

Rule #1: It needs to be lightweight. The last thing you need are items that weigh your already heavy bag down.

Rule #2: It must prevent breakouts/irritation. As a student stress is inevitable, therefore let’s avoid products that are harsh and full of irritants. The last thing you need to concern yourself with is a breakout or hideous rash. Choose wisely.

Rule #3: It must be affordable. Obviously, this depends on what you are willing to spend but it’s good to pick items that you can afford so you can keep them in your skincare/beauty regimen, particularly as a student.

Rule #4: Makes your life easier. Whether it’s an amazing flat iron or great hair products, you want zero fuss.

These are the rules that I lived by as a student and to be honest it worked out great for me. I always had what I needed on hand. Even something as simple as a great flat iron is a game changer when you are in a rush. As a result, I bought a mini sized flat iron that I could pack in my bag if needed. I also used a great body butter by The Body Shop that I could use on my body and even my face without any irritation or breakouts. During the colder months, a versatile moisturizer is essential. Every product in my bag was travel sized and lightweight.

Here are a few great products for you to consider for your back-to-school beauty bag:

I love ORIBE. I stumbled upon this brand a few years back when I was looking for a spray that I could use to touch up my hair dye during the in-between stage. I love the dry spray just as much. It smells great and you can use it on darker hair. For those who want a quality dry texturizing spray, this is a great choice.

Mario Badescu is considered by many to be the holy grail of spot treatments. It’s been around for a long time and I don’t think it’s going anywhere. It’s affordable and effective. Great for your busy life!

You may not want to throw this in your bag but you will definitely use it every morning. It’s a major time saver for those who like to straighten their hair.

Another favourite, theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter. For those who can’t go without makeup completely a little highlighter is more than enough. As you know, I go by the mantra less is more.

The only cleanser you will ever need. I love Cetaphil. I buy the large bottle and fill a travel sized bottle.

This is my second favourite from The Body Shop body butter product line. My number one choice, Brazilian Nut, has been discontinued (I hope it comes back soon, fingers crossed).

Olay Complete Sensitive All-Day Moisturizer has been my go-to moisturizer for many years. Buy the bigger bottle to keep at home and fill a travel sized bottle for your on-the-go beauty bag. The great thing about travel bottles is that they come with labels now. You can also use a permanent marker to label as well or bottles that come in different colours.
